Design Project Build

Freestyle + Fall Fashion

To recover from a crazy Wednesday night with the Danes, I plopped on the couch and watched the documentary Freestyle last night.To be completely honest it, Mos Def was the selling point....crushing on this boy for sure!

The doc was interesting and had some amazing footage, including Notorious B.I.G. (RIP boy) rapping on the streets of Brooklyn when he was a little B.I.G.

Plus footage of Run DMC on the Soooouuuuuuulllllllllllllllll Train. Check out the guy on the right in the red hat....call me crazy, but I think this hat is showing for Fall, see below.

Self Inflicted Torture with Matt Bernson

(Don't get any ideas with that title!) Why do I torture myself, why even bother? It's still way to cold to wear sandals and they definitely don't fall into the stiff soled/supportive guideline mandated for my fracture.

Suppose, I was injury free and off on spring break somewhere warm and tropical, Matt Bernson's sandals would definitely be in my suitcase! All of his line is handcrafted in Brazil (obrigado) and he runs the show out of Tribeca. Love 'em!

It's funny how intros happen....Lisa received her BFA at CU but it wasn't until my friend Ruscha went out to LA that I was introduced to Lisa's art. I can best describe her work as, a combination of street art with a dash of Basquiat, a touch Twombly and a hint of Escher.

My dear friend, Dara G of Dara Jewelry (go back to December posts to see her line) for weeks kept going on and on about this photographer she had booked for her new lookbook, a one Beatrice Neumann. While she was very excited, I honestly didn't get it. They were just shots of jewelry after all??? That is until I decided to check out the B's website and blog, NOW I get it!! The daughter of political refugees from Transylvania who met in Germany in the mid 70s, born and raised in Frankfurt, her work is spectacular! B has photographed for numerous publications; from Vogue to Vice and everything in between. Her photos will be included in the Taschen (oh I love my Taschen!!!!) book "The New Erotic Photography."

Apparently the rehab spot Hazelden already has...according an article in the LA times last week, the band heard from a Minnesota-based law firm representing the drug and alcohol treatment facility of the same name. Would the band please change its name?

from the LA Times...New tests of 100 "natural" and "organic" soaps, shampoos and other consumer products show that nearly half of them contained a cancer-causing chemical that is a byproduct of petrochemicals used in manufacturing.Many items that tested positive for the carcinogen are well-known brands, including Kiss My Face, Alba, Seventh Generation and Nature's Gate products, sold in retail stores across the nation.

I've been invited to a lecture tonight starring NY artist Roberto Juarez. Honestly, I knew nothing of Roberto prior to the invitation but after a quick search I see he focuses on large scale contemporary abstracts. Could be love at first site!!!!!!

More LA

A big part of my trip a few weeks ago, my how time flies, was related to my work on The Eco-luxe Bridal Salon hosted by Pink Cloud Events and the Avita Co-op.

Let's just say, never has work been so much fun!!! We drank amazing cocktails by 4copas tequila and sake2me, received manis, pedis and massages from Veda Organic Spa, sampled delicious food from The IVGroup, cakes and chocolates from Edith Meyer and Theo Chocolate, had our faces made up by Josie Maran of Josie Maran Cosmetics, tried on shoes from Cri De Couer, lingerie from Coco de Mer and sampled products from Inara Organics just to name a few of the

many fabulous offerings!!

3 Square with Deirdre

In LA, a few weeks ago, I grabbed a coffee and a cookie with Deirdre (founder of the lovely Ambrose Hotel) and her new bambina Allegra. The Ambrose is the only place to stay in Santa Monica if you ask me...we met at 3 Square Bakery on Abbot Kinney and I don't know what Wolfgang puts in those cookies but they are not to be missed!!!!
