All 'bout CLAWBACKS

Pay up execs! You run your company to the ground, the govt (ie taxpayers) bail you out and you think there are no consequences or requirements to give back the tens of millions you 'earned.' Oh yeah, let's review those pensions too - since you wiped out those of all your employees.

I guarantee you can't read this article without your blood boiling!

BOO!

La Boudoir (link above) has a well written blog post today. It's definitely a 'demms the breaks' time in our world...banking exes, who somehow sleep at night with millions and billions in the bank while we have to wipe up their mistakes. When I was growing up, if you failed something you were let go, not giving more money to try again. And then there is the housing situation but I am getting too worked up just thinking about those people who took out huge seconds on overvalued homes, spent all the cash and now we are bailing out.

How about a tax cut or rebate to those Americans who follow the rules; pay their bills on time and have good credit history. Aren't they the ones to be rewarded?

A hundie

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Santa Monica pier. Last night I was invited to a small gathering at the Carousel. The party was nice and Joan Baez performed a few songs. The coolest part of the evening was driving on the pier and parking for free! Hey, its the little things....

OMG, shoes

Yes I think I was the last person to catch the youtube sensation - if I am wrong & you dont know what I am talking about click here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCF3ywukQYA

More importantly, here is my latest obsession. They are Lanvin, which should give you an idea of the cost - $$$$$!

I first spied these at Satine over the weekend. Unfortunately, they aren't even a possible purchase until they move to the back of the store AKA the 70% zone. But how gorgeous and perfect with everything in my closet!

OMG, shoes....

Ughhhh

I've got no water and haven't for an hour+ because the '20 minute' item LA Water and Power wanted to work on has now turned into 'Houston we have a problem....,' finally after I couldn't take it anymore and it had been close to 20 minutes (even 5 is illegal) I had to go to the Ryder moving van and tell them it was illegal to idle the 18 wheeler for that long, not to mention the noise and air pollution and they are filming pretty much outside my door which started very early this am.

Here's a photo of the trucks, the filming is directly in front of the trucks. Gives you an idea of how close I am talking....the fun never ends....

Ke-Sook Lee

If you happen to be in or around Culver City be sure to check out Ke-Sook Lee's beautiful works at the George Billis Gallery.
Ke-Sook, hand sews, crochets, dyes, distresses, embosses mulberry paper to create light and ethereal works. I want the entire collection for my imaginary beach house. Yes, I do live by the beach but not in a house. Anyways, my imaginary beach house is in the Maldives.

Ahhhh the Irony

Awhile back, 4 of us came up with a new line of liquor. Bottle design by the woman who designed the Level bottle, branding and development from a key player at Absolut with years of liquor strategy experience, me with marketing and business development, and the attorney.
Long story short there were snags and holdups and the projected was shelved.
The attorney created a paranoid idea in his head that the other 3 were well on our way to market and without him. He threatened to sue, in a very nasty letter mind you.

Oh, which after review from 3 attorneys was told it would never stand a chance.

HOW IRONIC that I come to find out that the guy who threatened the suit, guess what???? Turned around and created the liquor without informing the other 3. He did his own take on the packaging and it is SO LAME.

Good riddance.
On a brighter note TGIF and even brighter note - check out my friend's new blog
doctaslick.blogspot.com - she's a very funny girl.!

I am shocking myself

...never did I think I would enjoy wearing a pair of tights, let alone blog for all the world to read about it. BUT, I put on my first pair of Wolford tights today. Actually, I bought them around thanksgiving and finally opened the package today. OMG - could tights actually feel like skinny little sweatpants for your legs. YESSS - they rock. And no I did not pay full price.

Look out for a pair on sale at a store near you!

From The Onion....

Vice Presidential Handlers Lure Cheney Into Traveling Crate
January 13, 2009

WASHINGTON—A team of nine specially trained handlers have successfully lured outgoing vice president Dick Cheney into a reinforced steel traveling crate in order to transport him back to his permanent enclosure in Casper, WY, official sources reported Monday. "He's a smart one. Once he sees the crate, he gets pretty nippy, but we've learned a few tricks over the years," chief VP wrangler Ted Irving breathlessly said while applying pressure to a deep gash on his forearm. "If we break a rabbit's legs and throw it in there, he will eventually go in to finish it off. Doesn't work with dead rabbits, though. Cheney only eats what he kills." Irving said that the latest vice presidential relocation went much more smoothly than September's diplomatic trip to Georgia, which was delayed for several hours after Cheney mauled three secret service agents and escaped inside the White House walls.

Havzees

I am not a super big fan of Culver City but its a good halfway meeting spot when friends or associates don't want come to Venice.

Last night we discover Happy Hour at Akasha. I thought this spot was good but pricey and with Axe in my backyard why would I bother.

But the HH is where its at - half price on all wine, some cocktails and a bunch of yummy apps for 6, 8 bucks max.

Who doesn't love a new pair of sunglasses? Friday I got my hands on the Geneva by Habervision. I gave these polarized shades a test drive on the beach over the weekend. Not bad not bad, and neither was the weather here in Sunny SoCal! I will definitely keep the glasses and the weather!
